Do you take my insurance?

For Arizona residents, it depends on which plan you have purchased. If you have invested in a plan that covers out of network, alternative medicine, than your plan should cover your Naturopathic care. If you did not purchase a plan with these benefits than we can give you a form for you to submit for out of office reimbursement if that is available in your plan. For Michigan residents, because Naturopathic Doctors are not yet licensed in Michigan we can not bill insurance.

Our Naturopathic Consultants do take HSA, cash, check, and credit cards.

Our counselors take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, and they also take HSA, cash, check and credit cards.

What is the difference between Naturopathic Practitioners and Naturopathic Consultants?

A Naturopathic Consultant:

  • Graduates from a 4-5 year full-time federally accredited medical school. As of the time this web page was created, there are six accredited schools of naturopathic medicine. This number continues to grow as Naturopathic Consultation grows in popularity.

  • Takes coursework in biology, physiology, minor surgery, pharmacology and more.

  • Completes a federally accredited medical residency.

  • Takes two nationally certified medical board exams.

  • Trained in naturopathic modalities rooted in the foundation of medicine, biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology and with a respect to herb-food-drug interactions, indications, and contraindications.

  • Is given a national provider number (NPI), qualify for a DEA number, and is licensed to diagnose, treat, conduct minor surgery, prescribe medications, offer injections and more.

  • Completes annual continuing education coursework in general medicine and pharmacology.

A Traditional Naturopath:

  • Does not go to medical school.

  • Attends weekend classes and/or online classes at schools that are not federally accredited.

  • Receives training in naturopathic modalities like herbs, nutrition, diet, homeopathy and some counseling.

  • In Michigan, students are not required to graduate from their school in order to call themselves a naturopath. They may take a few courses and withdrawal and then open medical practices.

  • Are not required to complete continuing education.

  • Their education is not federally credentialed.

  • Are not able to sit for medical board licensure examinations.

  • Disclaimer: We believe that traditional naturopaths have an incredible value in the community. There are some absolutely fantastic healers in the traditional naturopathic community. In creating this list, we endeavor to illuminate the difference between traditional naturopaths and naturopathic consultants. Just like we need MD's, DO's, Chiropractors, Health Coaches, Acupuncturists, we also believe that the community needs Traditional Naturopaths and we are grateful for what they have done for the Michigan community.

What can I expect in a visit with a Naturopathic Consultant?

Our mission is to help you achieve optimal health through utilization of safe, research-based, effective, and natural treatments. We believe that all people can grow healthier and that the body is capable of amazing feats if approached with a Naturopathic philosophy of understanding of disease versus wellness.

A fundamental principal in Naturopathic Consultation is to identify the root cause of suffering. Therefore, your first visit with our consultants will be extensive. We will take a detailed history, examine laboratory work, and perform differential diagnosis. What will make this visit different from a standard medical intake is not only the amount of time we will spend with you, but also in the way that we understand the cause of your symptoms and thus what you will need in order to truly get well.
